The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has just published the results of the latest onshore wind bidding round for a total capacity of 930 megawatts (MW) at an average price of €87.61/MWh.
Since its entry into the French market in late 2020, RWE has successfully commissioned 240 MW of renewable energy capacity. The Group is currently developing over 1.4 GW of onshore wind projects and nearly 900 MWp of solar projects. Moreover, RWE is currently participating in all French offshore wind tenders.
The seven awarded projects will add 35 wind turbines across four regions in France—Centre-Val de Loire, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, and Normandy—further enhancing the geographical diversity of RWE’s development pipeline. The first turbines could be commissioned as early as 2027, with additional installations expected through 2028.
With 1 GW of new capacity commissioned, 1.25 GW of capacity awarded or registered and 5 GW of new calls for tender initiated (AO7, AO8 and AO9 respectively), France intends to be a European leader in offshore wind power.
